We have all been a bit more financially conservative over the past several years since the economy took a nosedive.  Despite the state of the economy, those of us in the wedding industry were able to witness amazing (and very budget-conscious) couples say ‘I do’ but we also saw first-hand how wedding trends began to mimic economic trends.  Savvy and ultra-creative brides took DIY to a whole new level and spent hours upon hours of time hand-making their wedding decor from burlap and lace.  They scoured Grandma’s cupboards (and thrift shops) for mismatched china and hoarded every mason jar they could find.  Less became more.  Dollars were stretched.  A new lovely wedding trend was born.

Weddings went from chic to shabby chic.

With the economy now in a bit of an upswing, a big trend for 2013 – and probably one we’ll see over the next few years – is a return to elegance.  Couples have made wise financial choices during the past several years in anticipation of their wedding day.  They are more prepared to invest in an elegant event sans the homemade look, where professionals are entrusted with the details.

Someone who I thinks does a gorgeous job creating elegance is floral and event designer, Karen Tran.  I will have the pleasure of working with Karen in July and our event is going to be stunningly elegant.

Whatever your style, we all know the most important element of any wedding is L-O-V-E! : )

Happy Monday!

XO,
Alison
