Baking bread at home has been a game changer for me (and the whole fam)!  Not only is it healthier than store-bought bread (no preservatives and only a few ingredients), but the act of baking bread is so cathartic.  I love it.

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen in my stories that I’m baking my way through Bonnie Ohara’s book, “Bread Baking for Beginners”.  While I get that I’m not a beginner, I just love this book!  The directions are so clear and simple and it makes bread baking way less intimidating.  Every bread-lover should own a copy!  Yesterday I decided to bake the Panned Loaf recipe and it turned out perfectly!!  Today I made breakfast toast with smashed avocado, tomatoes, bacon, soft scrambled eggs, and white cheddar cheese.  SO GOOD!

I’ve been asked to share the recipe, but because it’s not my own and I haven’t seen it published online I don’t feel it’s my place to share.  Bonnie worked hard on her book, so it’s worth buying! 🙂  Instead, I’ll share my smashed avocado recipe with you! 🙂

Smashed Avocado

Yield: 2


1/2 Ripe avocado
1 Tbsp white or red onion, finely diced
1 Tbsp fresh cilantro, minced
1/2 tsp Trader Joe’s Yuzu Hot Sauce
To Taste: salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, & cayenne pepper


  1. Smash avocado.  Mix all ingredients together, taste and adjust seasonings, serve.
